Portland Divorce Mediation:
Matthew House, J.D.

The professional you choose for your Oregon divorce should make it easier, not more complex.

Most Portland divorce mediators focus on law, finance, or divorce coaching, with knowledge gaps in other areas. Matthew has extensive education, training, and practice in all three, and he is a notary public. He also provides free sessions to teen and pre-teen children of his clients.

Mediation Process

The average person loses 168 hours of productivity during a divorce. Matthew's ACE approach -- Affordable, Cordial, and Efficient -- saves time, money, and stress. If you want a Marital Settlement Agreement in your hands within 30 days of beginning mediation, Matthew can make it happen. The typical timeframe to complete mediation and have an agreement produced is 45 to 60 days. Matthew will accommodate any pace you prefer. Here are the steps:

Divorce mediation always addresses the main categories that must be resolved in an Oregon divorce -- child custody, parenting time, child support, asset division, debt division, spousal support or lack thereof, and a few other minor details. However, there are many more topics that Matthew chooses to invite clients to address -- optionally -- in their Marital Settlement Agreements.

Matthew will help you mediate all aspects of your divorce that you must address, and he will suggest other things that would be wise to discuss, even if not legally required. You may also raise any issues that you would like to discuss with the other party in mediation and include in your MSA.

To think comprehensively without getting overwhelmed by too much information at once, it's helpful to think about your mediation decisions in these seven categories to explore at your own pace:

Child-Related Decisions; Budgets and Support; Asset Division; Debts and Credit; Tax-Related Topics; Insurance; Other Issues Important to You
