Portland Divorce Mediation Fees

Transparent Fee Structure

Matthew House's fees are based on Standard Fee of $246 per hour. Mediation sessions are two hours. Additional mediation time and/or other services are billed at $246 per hour, in increments of 0.25 hour. Some aspects of the Marital Settlement Agreement, Parenting Plan, and child support worksheets are billed as a flat fee or a fixed number of hours.

There are three fee structures, differentiated primarily based on whether you have: minor children; adult children 18-20 years of age and attending school; or no children under the age of 21.

No children under 21

Typical Services Rendered:

• Two to three mediation sessions of two hours each: (4.0 to 6.0 hours)

• Marital Settlement Agreement Basic Structure (2.0 hours of time)

• One-hour Marital Settlement Agreement review session and one-half hour for one round of revisions (1.5 hours)​

Anticipated Fees:

• Before Session #1: Fee for 3.0 hours (two-hour first session plus half of the MSA Basic Drafting Fee)

• Before Session #2: Fee for 3.0 hours (two-hour second session plus half of the MSA Basic Drafting Fee)

• ​Before each additional two-hour session, if needed: $246 per hour

• After final mediation session: Any additional fees based on the agreed-upon conditions of the MSA. The possible fees are listed in the Fee Schedule.

• Before the final review session: $246 (one-hour session)

• If you choose to receive services by email or phone between mediation sessions or after the final mediation session, those fees will be billed as the services are rendered.​​

• Marital Settlement Agreement Basic Structure (2.0 hours)

• College Child Support Documentation (child support stipulations and required calculation worksheet) (0.75 hours)

• One-hour Marital Settlement Agreement review session and one-half hour for one round of revisions (1.5 hours)

• Meeting(s) with the college-age child: FREE

One or more children age 18-20; none under 18

One or more minor children

Please note that this fee schedule applies to any family with at least one minor child, regardless of whether or not you also have college-age children. The services for any clients who have a minor child (18 or younger) must include a parenting plan, so there is additional session time and drafting fees for that element of the Marital Settlement Agreement.

• Before Session #1: Two-hour session plus 50% of the fees for the basic written documents detailed above

• Before Session #2: Two-hour session plus 50% of the fees for the basic written documents detailed above

• Before Session #3 and any additional sessions: Two-hour session fee

• ​Before the review session: One-hour session and 30 minutes of revision time after the session, plus any additional fees based on the agreed-upon conditions of the MSA.

• If you choose to receive services by email or phone between mediation sessions or after the final mediation session, those fees will be billed as the services are rendered.

• Matthew's fees do not include the county filing fee, the parenting class fee, and the optional but recommended paralegal service. Those fees are not paid directly to Matthew.

• Three to four mediation sessions of two hours each: (6.0 to 8.0 hours)

• Marital Settlement Agreement Basic Structure (2.0 hours)

• Parenting Plan and Child Support Worksheet (1.5 hours)

• One-hour Marital Settlement Agreement review session and one-half hour for one round of revisions (1.5 hours)

• In a full divorce mediation process, there is no fee for your kids (ages 12-22) to meet with Matthew, as long as he has time available.

If your Marital Settlement Agreement includes real property and/or the division of retirement accounts, there is a fee for the additional sections that those assets will require.

Fees Based on Content of MSA
